True New Yorkers: Where should we go in NYC for the Fourth of July celebration?

My husband and I are taking our two daughters to NY for the first time to celebrate the Fourth of July. We’re staying in the Battery Park area (usually stay in Midtown but I don’t really like the touristy areas) and we want to know where to go to view the firework show. I’ve done a few searches online, but again, too touristy. Where do true New Yorkers go for the Fourth of July?

Well, i live in Queens so we always go 2 a bbq, and from there my fam drives to Jones Beach to see the fireworks there. I dont really like Manhattan too much, too touristy and full of out of towners.

Go to the FDR drive between 23rrd St and 42nd St.

    Or

Better yet from where you will be go to the South St Seaport.

Bring a radio so you can hear the music that goes with the show.

Go to the side of the FDR Drive around midtown. You’ll be able to see the fireworks from there.Get there early (2pm) and bring chairs, water, snacks, etc).

Or you could try South St Seaport. Very crowded there, but they have a lot going on. Enjoy!

My friend, you can watch the fireworks from a place that I know very well.

The first one will be on bank of the East River, on the Manhattan side. The FDR Drive, which the main north/south parkway, is close on the 4th for 3 hours from 14th Street to leacher are set up for those who want to view the fireworks from the roadway. My advice is get there early so you can get a prime seating sport.

I hope this information is very helpful. Good luck and enjoy the show.

If you have the connections, Get on top of a roof top of a building. Bring food and drinks and chairs and look up. the next best bet is an office building with a view. Battery Park may have a fireworks display on the West side but check it out this option. Otherwise, walk cross town to the South Street Seaport.
