Go to Wal Mart. Bakery section. They have many different options. Then take the sticker off, put it on your own platter. You will look like a pro.

Sorry I don’t have a picture.
This was suggested by another answerer “Jeannette P” as a response to another question.
Strawberry and Blueberry Trifle:
2 pints Strawberrys, hulled and sliced
1 pint Blueberries, washed and mashed slightly
1 frozen Sara Lee Poundcake, defrosted
1 large package vanilla pudding
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup sour cream
1 large container CoolWhip Extra Creamy
1/2 cup sugar
3 T Chambord
Mix sugar and chambord with berries and set aside to “juice up” at room temperature. Make pudding using milk, sour cream and 1 cup of the CoolWhip topping. Let thicken while you slice the pound cake in 1/2 inch slices. In decorative glass bowl, place 4 - 6 slices of pound cake, tearing them to fit if you have to. Top with 1/3 of the berry mixture and 1/2 of the pudding mixture. Repeat layers, ending with berries. Top with remaining CoolWhip and refrigerate to “mellow”. Cook’s Note: You can dazzle folks by making your own whipped cream and adding a half tsp of almond extract to it along with 1/2 cup powdered sugar.

Well, this cake looks similar on top to the cake you have been making, but it’s a different recipe.
Check out Kraftfoods website. I love their site!!!
Here’s the link to their July 4th cake.
Also, if you were interested in possibly doing cupcakes, why not just get a lid to a copy paper box, line it with foil, then decorate some cupcakes with blue icing, some with red, and some with white, then arrange them in the coloring of the flag
That would be fairly simple, and pretty.
Happy 4th and good luck!
Here’s one more from the Jello website…(they have others, but still very similar to what you have been making)

This one looks a lot like yours:
How simple is this? Create your own cupcake flag:
Sometimes your best recipe works best, then just add the frosting/decorations needed to give it the patriotic flair!!! I typed in “patriotic cakes” and “july fourth cakes”, then chose ‘images’, and found all sorts of great ideas!:&tbnh=127&tbnw=123&prev=/images%3Fq%3Djuly%2Bfourth%2Bcake%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us:IE-Address%26rlz%3D1I7ADBS
What about a trifle? (scroll down, again. . .)
Hope these help give inspiration!
