Happy fourth of July everyone, but i was wondering if it was safe to travel by greyhound bus?
April 5th, 2009 | by The Patriot |Ive never traveled by bus before, and i was wondering if it was safe. I did travel on amtrak before and that was safe, but would it be the same on a bus with more people?

Safe, yes. Definitely on the bus itself. Just don’t leave the bus station in a big city unless you know exactly where you’re going.

Define “safe”.
If you want an absolute guarantee that you won’t be injured or killed while riding a Greyhound bus, then No, it’s not absolutely safe. Buses do have accidents, just like trains, planes and automobiles, but the odds of you experiencing such an accident are pretty slim.
Statistically, scheduled airlines are still the safest way to travel, and private automobiles the least safe. Trains and buses fall somewhere in between.
On the other hand… Statistics also say that most people die in bed, so if you want to live forever, don’t go to bed!

Safe? yes. A good way to travel? that depends upon your tolerance for dirty, poor trashy people. Only the dregs of American Society travel by bus anymore. The top 99% of the population either Flys or drives. So…If you can deal with or are a member of the bottom 1% of society go for it! Just keep your Pepper spray handy and bring LOTS of Instant Hand Sanitizer. If you can afford it…Go rent an economy car to drive…Or just HitchHike the whole way! Good Luck!

the buses themselves are fairly safe. the stations in bigger cities leave something to be desired though. they often have undesirables around looking for a handout or to rob unsuspecting people as most stations do not provide security.
